With social distancing and the unavailability of many things we will have to content ourselves....
Its always a little strange celebrating the 4th of July outside of the
United States. We all have our celebrations of independence and in the past we
have found a way to mark the occasion with the Americans that were here.
We
have been invited to the University of Georgia celebrations many times and the
past few years we have celebrated with an American couple who were intent on
replicating the ultimate American experience complete with a relatively large group
of friends dressed primarily in Red, White and Blue, Hamburgers on the grill,
coleslaw, potato salad, watermelon and finishing off with fireworks to delight
us all.
This year is a little different. With social distancing and the
unavailability of many things we will have to content ourselves with the display
of circling screeching swallows instead
of fireworks and grilling hamburgers in
the back yard with our little family unit instead of the large gatherings to
which we have become accustomed.
In the end the sentiment is still the same. We are happy to be living in
a part of the world where we are free and we will celebrate our freedom in any
way possible.
