Giunti Odeon Libreria e Cinema:
The Odeon cinema was one of the most beautiful cinemas of Florence. It was built around 1457 in one of the most important Palazzo’s of Florence, the Palazzo dello Strozzino.
It was designed by Filippo Bruncelleschi with the help of Michelozzo.
in 1904, the Palazzo was bought by the Chiari family and with the suggestion of the great Eleonora Duse, decided to build an elegant movie theatre and this project was entrusted to Adolfo Coppedé but concluded by a famous architect Piacentini and in December 1922 the theatre was opened.
The theatre and cinema throughout the years never lost its splendid Art Nouveau style and in 2023, was renovated by Benaim studio and reopened as the Giunti Odeon, Bookshop and Cinema.
It’s an ambitious cultural project with space needed for bookshelves and stalls, an unchanged gallery for screening films and an area for book presentations and meetings.
A cafe-restaurant completed this all in one venue.
